The evening of July 8, 2010 approached and when 6 PM struck the clock, the party officially was underway. When I arrived at the unveiling, I was greeted with a pleasant surprise when the valet attendant had informed me that he would park my vehicle and provide a complimentary car detailing! From that moment the stage and expectations were set. Upon entering the dealership, I was handed a gift bag, which I later found to include an Infiniti pen, keychain, QX56 booklet, a free oil change coupon, and car detail coupon. Too good to be true? They seemed to be buttering us up for a not so impressive 2011 QX56 I thought. But, when the night progressed I was ecstatic that I made time to attend…
The music was splendid, which featured the X Isles, a 2 piece band with vocals, guitar, and steel drums. Despite only 2 members, the band featured the incredible vibe of even some of the best 4 or 5 piece bands. Not over powering, but very full and soothing. My favorite part about writing this blog is including an aspect of life that I am very candid of: Food! Sky catered this event and truly added a 5 star touch with their signature ingredients. They featured crab cakes, quesadillas, scallops and shrimp, jerk chicken embodied by cornbread with a little swirl of BBQ sauce to top it off, cheese and meat platters, bruschetta, tortellini dishes, and more. All of the food was delectable and mouth watering! I was a little weary as to how the catering would go, as we all know catering with hot food is a hit or miss. Sky had 3 chefs in attendance freshly preparing all of the dishes on the dealership floor. The food was a showcase in itsself and truly did Sky’s typical reputation justice!
Now, aside from my rambling. The vehicle was finally unveiled. By 7:00 PM we all were exploring the new QX56. The car is very spacious, which was demonstrated by a family of 7, who had much room once packed in. The vehicle is slightly smaller inside than last years’ model, but has no bearing on still being able to fit your family comfortably. The car is filled with features, such as twin DVD screens on the driver/passenger headrest, luxurious design in the dashboard, steering wheel, lavish compartment space in the front middle center, leather, navigation touch screen, and more. Infiniti equipped this machine with a standard 5.6-liter, V8, 400-horsepower engine that achieves 14-mpg in the city and 20-mpg on the highway. For a car of its class, the QX56 stands above competition in having impressive fuel ratings. Motor Trend asks, “Is there a better SUV in this category? Perhaps not.” The Infiniti QX56 is all new for 2011, and other fellow reviewers say it’s finally competitive. The changes to the Infiniti QX56 for 2011 start on the outside. I was happy to see that the angular, blingy styling of the old model is gone, while a more subdued look takes its place. Inside, there’s standard seating for seven (though seating for eight is a no-cost option) in a cabin that again I would compare to that of a luxury private jet. Since it’s an Infiniti, the QX56 comes loaded with high-tech standard features, as well as some innovative available safety features, like Intelligent Cruise Control.
The night was a success and Infiniti of Norwood gave their customers another reason of why they won the 2010 Infiniti Award of Excellence. Classy event all around for the top of the line luxury SUV.
